Writing Faster With AI And Boring Tools

AI will not make you a faster writer if you keep using it to avoid writing.

Sorry. Annoying but true.

Most “write faster with AI” advice is just:

“Let the tool make a bland draft, then pretend editing it is the same as writing.”

Sometimes that helps.

Often it creates more cleanup than it saves.

The real speed comes from removing friction at each stage of writing:

Capturing ideas
Choosing an angle
Making an outline
Drafting without fiddling
Editing with a clear target

AI can help with all of that.

But it cannot care for you.

First, Stop Editing While Drafting

This is the leak.

You write one sentence.

You judge it.

You rewrite it.

You check a fact.

You adjust the title.

Now twenty minutes are gone and the draft has three sentences wearing a nice hat.

The move: separate drafting from editing.

Draft badly on purpose.

Bad use:

Write the article.

The first prompt gives you options.

The second gives you a clean average.

Sometimes you do not have writer’s block.

You have typing block.

You can explain the point out loud, but the page makes you stiff.

Record yourself talking through the idea for five minutes.

Then turn that transcript into an outline.

Not a final draft.

An outline.

Speaking gets the idea moving. Editing turns it into writing.

Keep A Boring Idea Inbox

Fast writers are not always faster at thinking.

They just stop losing ideas.

Keep one place for:

Half-lines
Titles
Reader questions
Client complaints
Strong opinions
Examples from real life

Do not organize it beautifully.

Capture it quickly.

What is too smooth and empty?

Then decide.

The tool can flag the issue.

You choose the fix.
